This is the absolute most important factor. The cream and white parts of the leaves lack chlorophyll and cannot photosynthesize.

The plant needs plenty of bright, ambient light to produce enough energy and maintain its beautiful variegation.Do not place it in harsh, direct midday sunlight. The delicate white and cream sectors contain very little cellular structure and will easily scorch, turning translucent, crispy, or brown.

Water your plant thoroughly only when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil have completely dried out. Stick your finger into the soil to check; if it feels damp, wait a few days.
