Requires abundant bright, indirect light. While it loves sun, avoid placing it in intense, scorching mid-summer afternoon sun, which can burn the leaf window tissue. A spot with direct morning or late evening sun is ideal.

Critically sensitive to overwatering. Allow the soil matrix to dry out almost entirely (90-100%) between waterings. In average home environments, this typically spans roughly 2 weeks. In winter dormancy, cut watering to a minimum, giving just a tiny sip if the leaves begin to feel slightly soft.

Plant in a highly porous, mineral-heavy grit mix. Combine a standard commercial cactus soil with lots of pumice, perlite, and coarse grit sand to maximize drainage.
