The common name and species name ochroleucum translate to "yellowish-white". Instead of blooming like a standard geranium, the tight cluster of 6 to 10 flowers arranges itself inside out. The greenish-yellow to bright yellow posterior petals point directly inward to form a fake "daisy center," while the stark white anterior petals point outward to mimic peripheral "daisy rays".
Above ground, the entire plant is compact, typically standing only 7 to 12 cm tall.
Hidden below ground is a rugged, turnip-shaped storage caudex that can grow up to 4 cm in diameter. This allows the plant to sleep safely underground for the majority of the dry season.
It produces a small rosette of oblong, obtuse, and slightly fleshy green leaves edged with irregularly fringed (ciliate) margins and supported by hairy petioles.
