• Growth Cycle: This is a strict winter grower and summer deciduous plant. Foliage pushes up in late autumn, stays green through the cold months, blooms in spring, and completely dies back for a dry summer dormancy.
  
• Substrate: Requires superior, razor-sharp drainage. Plant in a deeply coarse potting mix dominated by pumice, perlite, or river sand with minimal organic loam.
• Watering: Water lightly but consistently during autumn and winter while the curly leaves are active. Stop watering entirely in summer once the leaves turn yellow to prevent the dormant bulb from turning to mush.
• Light: Full sun to very bright indirect light is required to keep the foliage tightly spiraled and compact. Low light will cause the leaves to stretch and lose their ornamental curls.
