Notechidnopsis tessellata is a small, sparingly branched succulent with green to purplish-green stems that have low tubercles arranged in 6 to 8 rows along the stem.
The stems are prostrate to decumbent, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) long and 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) thick.
