Soak the clean seeds in a shallow bowl of lukewarm distilled water for 12 to 24 hours. This rehydrates the seed coat and signals to the embryo that it is time to wake up.
Moisten your sphagnum moss or seed-starting mix until it feels like a wrung-out sponge—it should be damp but not dripping wet. Pack the medium lightly into your small containers.
Place the seeds on top of the medium. Press them down gently so they make good contact with the moisture, but do not bury them deeply. A tiny, dusting layer of soil or moss over the top (about 1/8 inch) is plenty, as light helps stimulate their germination.
