Needs bright light or filtered full sun. Strong lighting prevents the stems from losing their dense cluster shape and stretching. When exposed to ideal sunlight levels, the grey-green skin takes on a gorgeous pinkish or violet hue.
Lean heavily on an explicit soak-and-dry approach. Water the soil deeply only when the potting substrate is completely bone-dry. From late autumn through winter, enforce a strict dry period—forcing the plant into semi-dormancy.
Plant exclusively in an open, 70% to 80% mineral grit potting mix utilizing materials like pumice, lava rock, and coarse sand. Avoid using standard peat heavy potting soils which trap damp stagnation around the fragile roots.
Keep it protected from freezing environments. It thrives best in warm environments but requires cold protection below 10°C (50°F).
