Cover the pot with a clear lid or place it inside a sealed clear plastic bag. Lithops need a humid environment to sprout, which usually happens in 5 to 15 days.
Lithops seeds are as tiny as dust, and the plants require a highly porous mineral mix, consistent humidity during germination, and lots of bright, indirect light. Under optimal conditions, they will grow into mature, flowering plants in 3 to 4 years.
Use a highly gritty, well-draining substrate. A great mix is about 80% inorganic matter (e.g., pumice, zeolite, coarse sand) and only 20% organic seed-raising mix.
