Requires bright, filtered or indirect sunlight. Bright conditions are essential to stop the green sections from taking over and turning the plant completely green. However, avoid harsh, unshielded afternoon summer sun, which will quickly scorch or bleach the yellow variegation stripes.
Lean strictly on a soak-and-dry regimen. Water deeply only when the potting mix is completely dry all the way to the bottom. During winter dormancy, reduce watering to a minimum—just enough to keep the thick leaves from deflating.
Plant in a highly porous, 70% to 80% mineral-grit mixture composed of pumice, perlite, and coarse sand mixed with a tiny fraction of organic peat. This keeps its thick, fleshy roots highly aerated.
