Bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun, which can cause extreme sunburn. A light-shading or dappled setup is ideal for maintaining its deep, rich coloration.
A strictly gritty, porous mineral substrate. A blend of 50% to 70% volcanic pumice, perlite, or chicken grit mixed with minimal organic succulent soil helps prevent root loss.
Adhere to a strict dry-out routine. Water deeply only when the potting mix is entirely bone-dry. Overwatering or allowing water to pool in the rosette center quickly triggers stem and root rot.
