A small plant that develops from a tuberous root (caudex) that can reach up to 4 cm in diameter, from which generally solitary, ovate-shaped, erect and overhanging leaves of a bright green color grow. It is a deciduous plant, which means that it loses its leaves during the vegetative rest and then regenerates them.
