This is very small, sun loving green to gray-green cycad that never has a caudex over a foot tall. Leaves are plumose/fluffy and up to three feet long. It tolerates full sun along the coast.
This species is well adapted to sun, but will require protection in desert areas. E. caffer needs an open, porous soil that drains well.
