• Foliage: Produces 2 to 4 elliptical to suborbicular (nearly round), ground-hugging leaves. The leaves are a muted green to bluish-green but are defined by a complex, multi-layered margin. The top surface features a submarginal band of soft, velvety hairs (trichomes) tracing a thickened, bumpy outer edge. 
  
• Flowers: In midsummer, it pushes up a slender, erect flowering spike up to 40 cm high. The spike bears a cluster of small, star-shaped white-to-cream flowers, with each petal distinctly divided by a dark green or brown center stripe.
