The signature hallmark is its highly irregular, variegated leaves. The deeply crisped, ruffled margins feature marbling in shades of creamy-yellow, ivory white, and sage green, making every leaf completely unique.
Because the variegated patches lack chlorophyll, the plant produces significantly less energy than its solid green counterpart. As a result, its already miniature trunk (caudex) grows at a painstaking fraction of the normal rate.
Extreme care must be taken with offsets or seedlings that emerge completely white or yellow.
