Growing in well drained peat with some to lots of water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow up to eight centimetres, the stem 60 centimetres height.
It grows an underground or partially exposed globose tuber (caudex) that stores water. In cultivation, growers often raise the caudex slightly above the soil line for aesthetic appeal.
The Mukondoni form features prominently large, vivid green leaves that rise on thin petioles directly from the apex of the caudex.
Once pollinated, the seed pods mature and mechanically launch seeds away from the plant with surprising velocity.
