• Light: Thrives in full sun to very bright, indirect light. Avoid intense, scorching afternoon sun in mid-summer to prevent stem burn.
• Soil: Must be planted in an exceptionally porous, coarse substrate. A mix made of almost exclusively rocks, pumice, and perlite with just a touch of peat or soil prevents its shallow root system from sitting in stagnant moisture.
• Watering: Highly drought-tolerant. Water moderately once a week during spring and summer, allowing the potting mix to dry out entirely between waterings. Reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and suspend water completely in winter if the plant drops its leaves. Overwatering will quickly cause fatal root rot.
• Temperature: Strictly cold-sensitive. Maintain warm temperatures between 18°C and 27°C (65°F–80°F). Never let the temperature drop below 15°C (59°F), and shield it completely from cold drafts or winter frost
