Growing Clerodendrum from seed requires a bit of patience, as germination is slow and can take anywhere from 3 to 4 months.
Scarification: Use a clean razor blade or sandpaper to gently nick the hard outer surface of each seed. This helps water penetrate the seed coat.
Pre-soaking: Soak the nicked seeds in room-temperature water for 24 hours prior to planting.
Planting Medium: Sow the seeds in a moist, rich, well-draining seed-starting loam or potting mix.
Warmth & Moisture: Keep the soil barely moist (not waterlogged). Place the tray in a warm spot, ideally using a seedling heating mat to keep temperatures consistently cozy, and place under bright, indirect light.
