Exercise extreme caution using a strict soak-and-dry approach. Only water when the soil is completely bone-dry and the dome looks slightly flat or deflated. Keep the plant completely dry from late autumn through winter dormancy.
Plant in a 90% pure mineral substrate (using elements like akadama, pumice, and lava grit) with next to no organic material. This ensures water passes through instantly and the roots dry out quickly.
