A stem-forming, miniature, tufted succulent subshrub. It develops a dense clump of woody, branched stems that grow up to 20 cm tall from a shared rootstock.
The leaves look incredibly similar to blades of grass. They are upright, slender, linear-lanceolate, and measure up to 25 cm long by a mere 5 mm wide.
Bright, capitate inflorescences bear tubular flowers that range in color from a striking coral red to orange and soft yellow, occasionally even presenting as whitish-pink.
This specific variety is a pyrophyte, meaning it is completely dependent on fire cycles to flower. In nature, it will generally only push forward blooms in the immediate aftermath of a grassland wildfire. Fire also stimulates its seeds to break dormancy and germinate.
