This architectural gem forms tight, multi-headed clumps of narrow, linear-lanceolate leaves reaching about 15 to 30 cm (6 to 12 inches) tall and up to 38 cm (15 inches) wide per rosette. The stiff, grayish-green leaves lack sharp marginal teeth but are instead bordered by a faint pale margin decorated with elegant, decorative white filifers (hair-like threads) and subtle white bud imprints that give it a "hairy," highly textured look. At maturity, the mother rosette pushes up a spectacular, slender 8-foot-tall spike packed with dense yellow flowers.
