Ultra-slow-growing miniature succulent endemic to the rugged granite hills of Namaqualand and Bushmanland in South Africa. Like other variations within the highly diverse A. marianae complex, it is coveted by collectors for its extraordinarily textured foliage, mimicking small pebbles or dried raisins to blend seamlessly into its natural desert habitat.
Its foliage ranges from dark sage green to deep plum or brownish-purple. Strong sunlight brings out dense, vibrant reddish-brown spots and speckled highlights.
Blooms on tall, slender spikes with small, unassuming green-to-pinkish tubular flowers.
