Light: Full, direct sunlight for at least 6 hours daily. Insufficient light causes the dark skin to fade to dull green and triggers leggy growth.
Water: Treat it like a cactus. Water deeply only when the potting medium is entirely bone-dry, and drastically cut back watering during winter dormancy.
Soil: Use an ultra-gritty, fast-draining mix composed of pumice, perlite, and lava rock to completely avoid root rot.
