Keep it in small, shallow containers. Large pots hold too much moisture and can lead to immediate root rot on slow-growing dwarf root systems.
Use an ultra-lightweight, gritted potting soil. Incorporate high ratios of perlite, pumice, and volcanic rock to maximize rapid drainage.
Provide at least 6 to 8 hours of intense, direct sunlight daily. Lack of strong light causes the tightly curled horn leaves to flatten out or drop entirely.
Use the "soak and dry" method. Water heavily only when the soil has completely dried out. Drastically reduce or entirely cease watering during cold winter dormancy.
