Maximum Lighting: To keep the branches short, thick, and dark, it needs a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of intense, blasting sunlight daily. Low light will cause a premium CDP to stretch out (etiolate) and lose its characteristic squat profile.
Strict Mineral Substrate: Use a mix containing 70–80% non-porous and porous rocks (pumice, perlite, lava rock, and coarse river sand). Any water retention or soil compaction will rot the sensitive, fat root base.
Hard Watering Cycle: Water deeply only when the top few inches of the gritty mix are completely dry. If the weather turns cold or the plant drops its leaves to enter dormancy, halt watering entirely.
